Ordering closed-stacks materials 
 

Prior to your visit to the Special Collections, you may order up to ten items of our off-site rare materials marked as 'Request at Special Collections Counter' on FIND@HKUL through Email (libspeco@hku.hk) after making an appointment. These rare materials include rare books, manuscripts collections, loose materials, historic newspapers and historic Hong Kong materials with prefix HKP, HKC, SW & HK 895.181 A to Z. 

  • Please email your required materials (max. ten items) to Special Collections (libspeco@hku.hk) at least 3 working days before your visit.
  • If you require additional materials (max. five items) for rare books, manuscripts collections and historic Hong Kong materials with prefix HKP, HKC & HK 895.181 A to Z on the same day on-site, please approach our service counter (subject to availability of the time, items and location).

No-show and cancellation policy:

  • Cancellation should be done at least 24 hours prior to session start. Cancellations should be done through email.
  • For no show or cancellation less than 24 hours prior to session users, without a valid excuse (medical emergency or other) will not be requested Special Collections facilities and materials for TWO WEEKS.

Open-Stack Materials
Materials with prefixes HK, HKLB, HKS, HKLS, WTO Collection, and Microform Collection (MF, CMF, MPT & CMPT) are available for pickup from the open shelves and for reading in Special Collections only after reserving a research desk or Microform Scanner via BookASpace.
