One Millionth E-Book
The 1798 edition of George Staunton’s An authentic account of an embassy from the King of Great Britain to the Emperor of China was chosen as the one-millionth e-book at the HKU Libraries in 2006. This 5-volume edition is bound with 210 extra colour illustrations and believed to be the only copy that exists in the world. The very interesting history of the first British Embassy to China gives a vivid account of the voyage out and home, the journeys in China and the reception at Beijing of the Embassy. This beautifully produced e-book is free for access to the public.
