• Borrowers will be held responsible for the library materials in their possession.
• Borrowers will be billed for the repair/replacement cost if
  
  • an item which is overdue for 30 days or more and not returned will be assumed to has been lost by the borrower.
  • an item reported loss by the borrower.

Lost and Found

Lost items found in the Library will usually be sent to the service counters. You can claim lost property by showing proof of ownership. Claims should be made as soon as possible. Unclaimed items will be transferred to the Security Control Centre of the Estates Office. You may also report loss of personal belongings at the service counters. 

Request for Searching for Missing Items

Library materials may sometimes be misplaced and appear to be missing. If you have been searching unsuccessfully for an item listed as “available” in the Library catalogue, you may fill out an on-campus online request form for searching for missing items. We will try to locate the item and you will be informed of the result by email.

• All borrowed items must be returned on or before the due date. Fines will be imposed for late renewal or late returns.
• Items with loan periods of 15 days or more can be returned to any of the HKU Libraries.
• Short loan items (14 days or less), such as audio-visual items, serials, and course reserve materials, have to be returned to the service point from which they were borrowed.
