HKALL Interlibrary Loan Service Quota Increase

An important message from the Libraries

I am pleased to inform you that the Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC) has approved an increase of 50% for all the current quotas of HKALL (Hong Kong Academic Library Link) interlibrary loan service with effect from 4 January 2016.  For more information about the HKALL service, please visit the library webpage http://lib.hku.hk/general/hkall_overview.html.

Exhibition of the “Szeto Wah Collection”

The Libraries cordially invites you to visit the exhibition of the Szeto Wah Collection. The exhibition will be held at Special Collections, 1/F Main Library, The University of Hong Kong, from 4 January to 6 February 2016.

The Szeto Wah Collection is permanently housed in the Libraries’ Special Collections since the handover ceremony in January 2012. The University of Hong Kong Libraries is very fortunate to have been chosen by the family of Mr Szeto Wah (1931-2011) as the recipient of this unique Collection.

This exhibition features Szeto Wah’s speech manuscripts, photos, and artefacts relating to his life as a legislator before and after 1997.

REVERÓN – Luz De Venezuela (Light of Venezuela) – Venezuelan painter

The Libraries cordially invites you to the REVERÓN – Luz De Venezuela (Light of Venezuela) Armando Reverón, A glance by the 125th anniversary of his birth Art Exhibition. The exhibition will be held on Level 3, third floor of the Main Library, The University of Hong Kong. The exhibition will run from 7 December to 19 December 2015 (1:00 P.M.).

In coordination with the Consulate General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong Libraries will exhibit a collection of paintings by world-renowned Venezuelan painter, Armando Reverón.

Reverón did the proper (sic) with his works, he dedicated them to the light of his land, the simplicity of everyday life, the landscape, the countryside and the work of the people. All this (sic) elements converted its creations in the primigenia paintings of the venezolanidad (Venezuelan feelings) a unique testimony of the Caribbean brightness which made many know him today as the painter of the Light.

Fire Alarm Testing – Monday, 13 July 2015

Safety at HKU is our utmost priority and concern where fire and emergency systems testing are conducted on a constant basis.

The Libraries will work with the Estates Office, and Safety Office to improve our communications and the channels we use to better inform our readers.
In addition, we will add a brief verbal announcement to forewarn Library readers and staff of future fire alarm testing.

We apologize for any inconveniences Monday’s test may have caused.
