Special arrangements are made for the Main Library and Branch libraries when Typhoon or Rainstorm Signals or “Extreme Conditions” are hoisted or lowered:
- Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above

Arrangements for Overnight Open Area (Main Library & Medical Library)
- Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above / “Extreme Conditions” Announcement
Overnight Open Area will be closed when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted or an “Extreme Conditions” announcement issued by the Government is in force. If the Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or “Extreme Conditions” announcement is in force or when the overnight arrangement is in effect, the area will close immediately.
The area will remain closed at night when the Typhoon Signal No. 8 is lowered or “Extreme Conditions” announcement is cancelled. The Library will resume its normal opening hours on the next day.
- Black Rainstorm Warning
If the Black Rainstorm Warning is in force when the overnight opening arrangement is in effect, the area will remain open. You are advised to stay indoors or take shelter for your own safety until the warning has been cancelled or the heavy rain has passed.
