Library services which require user authentication will be suspended in the following time period because of the maintenance of HKU Single-Sign-On (Central Authentication Service) between 6am – 10am, 5^th July 2015

To:  All Users of Main Library Building (Old Wing & New Wing) Subject:    Spatial  Reorganization for a New Entrance on 2/F Main Library Building (New Wing)

Period:                 29 May 2015 to End Jan 2016

Working Hours:   8:30a.m. to 6:00p.m.

We refer to the captioned project. Please be informed that the renovation work is scheduled to carry out at the period specified above. Please find enclosed herewith area plan, with site area highlighted, for your information. Kindly be informed that the work may cause noise and vibration nuisances to the users. The contractor is reminded to minimize the construction nuisances as far as possible.

In connection with the 2/F New Entrance project, the Po Chung & CEO Collections, Bestsellers and Browsing Collections were relocated from G/F to 1/F AV & Reserve Collection (next to the AV viewing room).

There are temporary signage on the G/F to direct patrons to 1/F AV & Reserve for the above collections.

The Library Corner on G/F and the Study Zone on Level 3, Main Library, will remain open after Main Library opening hours for the use by CURRENT STAFF and CURRENT STUDENTS ONLY.

The Main Library and Medical Library will extend the opening hours for the coming Revision Week & Assessment Period from 11 pm, 4 May to 6 am, 23 May 2015:

Main Library:
Daily:  8:30am – 6am of the following day
(except Special Collections, AV & Reserve Collection, and Level 3 Collaboration Zone)

Medical Library:
Monday – Friday: 8:15am – 6am of the following day
Saturday: 8:30am – 6am of the following day
Sundays & Public Holidays: 10am – 6am of the following day

All service counters will be closed outside the normal operating hours.  In order to thoroughly clean the library, all users and their possessions must be cleared by 6 am each morning.  Items not removed from each desk will be removed by staff on duty and can be collected at:

Main Library:
After 9 am (10 am on Sundays & Public Holidays) at the Lending Services Division on the G/F;

Yu Chun Keung Medical Library:
After 10 am at the Circulation Counter.

During the extended opening hours, contract security guards will be stationed in these two libraries to provide basic security services.  When the circulation counters are closed, users can check out/in books using the self-check stations (G/F and 4/F in Main Library, and one in Medical Library). While there is no counter service, all public computers, printers and copiers will be available but no refill of printing paper will be provided.

The Yu Chun Keung Medical Library will be closed on Sun 26 April due to the suspension of electricity supply to the William Mong Building for statutory inspection.
