Endnote Workshop for Mac


Bring Your Own Device to learn Endnote!
Important Notes:
1.   Bring your own laptop to attend the workshop.
2.   Install the following prior to attending the workshop:
      •  Endnote X8 software (downloadable from HKUL homepage)
      •  Microsoft Word (check if the Endnote tab is on the ribbon)
      •  HKU WiFi Connection
3.   Fully charge your laptop.
4.   Tablet/ iPads are not supported.

This workshop offers basic and advanced skills to build and manage your Endnote library. It will cover:

  1. Basic set up:
    • Create an Endnote library
  2. Build your library:
    • Direct export from FIND@HKUL, Academic Search Complete & Google Scholar
    • Manual input
    • Change citation style, remove duplicates, edit references and backup your library
    • Import & attach PDF files and find PDF full text
  3. Cite While You Write:
    • Insert citation, edit citation, remove field codes
  4. Manage a large library:
    • Create custom groups
    • Create smart groups

Note: Endnote is a citation management software that enables you to organize references and cite the sources while writing your paper. HKU has taken out an Endnote site licence which permits current HKU staff and students to use the software both on campus and on their PCs. Other users can use Endnote on PCs provided in the HKU Libraries.

Research Data Management Workshop –
Manage Qualitative Research Data Using NVivo 11 for Windows


NVivo is a software package designed for qualitative research with rich text-based and multimedia data. It assists researchers to manage and analyze non-numerical unstructured data such as interview transcripts, audio and video files, images, PDF from literature review, and survey data.

This workshop will cover the key features of NVivo 11 Pro for Windows. Participants will learn how to prepare their text and media data, import and organize their data, add notes and memos, and how to run queries.

This is a bring-your-laptop workshop. Please have NVivo 11 Pro or NVivo 10 for Windows installed on your laptop or you may download the 14-day free trial version of NVivo 11 Pro for Windows.

This workshop is targeting beginners with no previous knowledge of NVivo.
