{"id":1020,"date":"2018-04-09T11:39:51","date_gmt":"2018-04-09T03:39:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lib.hku.hk\/newsblog\/?p=1020"},"modified":"2018-04-09T11:39:51","modified_gmt":"2018-04-09T03:39:51","slug":"unveiling-the-veil-muslim-women-in-hong-kong-art-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lib.hku.hk\/newsblog\/?p=1020","title":{"rendered":"Unveiling the Veil: Muslim Women in Hong Kong Art Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1021 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lib.hku.hk\/newsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/201804-MWHK_roller-300x83.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"506\" height=\"140\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Unveiling the Veil: Muslim Women in Hong Kong Art Exhibition<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with the Muslim Women in Hong Kong Organisation Committee, the Main Library is pleased to present <strong><em>Unveiling the Veil: Muslim Women in Hong Kong Art <\/em>Exhibition\u00a0<\/strong>at the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>Floor Atrium\/ExhibitionsArea of the Main Library from 18 April 2018 to 3 May 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will showcase the creative art pieces made by Muslim women living in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>This exhibition seeks to help students discover and understand the often stereotyped and shielded, yet diverse and vivid, voices of the Muslim women, who share with us the same living space of this multicultural city.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, roughly 300,000 Muslims are living in Hong Kong. Indonesians, Chinese, and South Asians are the three\u00a0major cultural groups while there are also Muslims from other parts of the world such as the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.
