Lasers in dentistry: current concepts / Donald J. Coluzzi, Steven P.A. Parker, editors.

D 617.6 L34 C72

This book provides information on the basic science and tissue interactions of dental lasers and documents the principal current clinical uses of lasers in every dental discipline. The applications of lasers in restorative dentistry, endodontics, dental implantology, pediatric dentistry, periodontal therapy, and soft tissue surgery are clearly described and illustrated. Information is also provided on laser-assisted multi-tissue management, covering procedures such as crown lengthening, gingival troughing, gingival recontouring, and depigmentation. The closing chapters look forward to the future of lasers in dentistry and the scope for their widespread use in everyday clinical practice. When used in addition to or instead of conventional instrumentation, lasers offer many unique patient benefits. Furthermore, research studies continue to reveal further potential clinical applications, and new laser wavelengths are being explored, developed, and delivered with highly specific power configurations to optimize laser–tissue interaction. This book will bring the reader up to date with the latest advances and will appeal to all with an interest in the application of lasers to the oral soft and/or hard tissues.

Implant therapy in the esthetic zone: current treatment modalities and materials for single-tooth replacements / authors, V. Chappuis, W. Martin.

D 617.674 I8 B v.10

This latest volume in the ITI Treatment Guide series starts out with the most recent statements and recommendations from the 5th ITI Consensus Conference, followed by a detailed protocol for the evaluation and treatment planning of patients with esthetic demands requiring single-tooth replacement with a dental implant. Various surgical situations commonly encountered in the esthetic zone are presented along with recommended treatment protocols. In addition, the many aspects of clinical management of the planned implant site (before and after placement) are discussed including the use of provisional prostheses, laboratory communication, abutment design, restorative material selection, and delivery of the definitive restoration. Fourteen complex case presentations form the core of this volume with step-by-step descriptions of procedures for achieving stable long-term esthetic outcomes. This volume provides a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to single-tooth replacement in the esthetic zone, from consultation to follow-up, with a focus on current treatment modalities and the materials that present-day implant dentistry has to offer in order to support clinicians in their decision-making processes.

Essential orthodontics/ Birgit Thilander, Krister Bjerklin, Lars Bondemark.

D 617.64 T441

Essential Orthodontics is a comprehensive introduction to the biological principles of orthodontics. This book covers the why, when and how of orthodontics, enabling readers to identify which individuals need to be treated, to diagnose based on individual dentofacial development, and to understand the mechanical principles and tissue responses involved.

Divided into three parts, this authoritative resource covers pretreatment considerations, treatment principles of skeletal and dentoalveolar anomalies, and tissue response to orthodontic and orthopaedic forces. Classification of malocclusions and craniofacial growth and development are discussed, and the text explores how to distinguish between normal occlusion and malocclusions. Essential Orthodontics outlines how to perform a comprehensive orthodontic examination leading to an orthodontic diagnosis, and the formation of a treatment plan.

Following a student-friendly layout with key objectives and chapter summaries, Essential Orthodontics is an accessible yet comprehensive resource for both undergraduate and postgraduate dental students.
