EndNote for Law

EndNote is a citation management software that is widely used by students and researchers to organize references, cite sources while writing papers, and create bibliographies. For the first time, a series of two EndNote Workshops will be tailor-made for law students. You will learn how to use EndNote to cite legal sources with OSCOLA (Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities) referencing style and to import selected references from major legal databases such as HeinOnline. 1. EndNote for Law Workshop I (Endnote Basic): is a basic introductory workshop to EndNote with hands-on experience. It is a prerequisite to Workshop II.

In this workshop, you will learn:
• How to get started with EndNote
• How to build your EndNote Library: Manual input, Direct export and Save & Import
• How to manage PDF files
• How to use Cite While You Write feature in Endnote using OSCOLA referencing style

2. EndNote for Law Workshop II (Manage your Library): offers advanced skills to better manage your EndNote library.

In this workshop, you will learn:
• How to edit references
• How to create custom groups
• How to create smart groups
• How to generate a bibliography

HKU has taken out an EndNote site license which permits current HKU staff and students to use the software both on campus and on their PCs.
