Once Upon a Time in Beijing: Five U.S. Ambassadors to China

This year is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of normalization of relations between the United States and China. The National Committee on United States-China Relations (NCUSCR) invited five former U.S. Ambassadors to China to a program together for the first time on 9 December 2008. In the program, Winston Lord (1985-89), James Lilley (1989-91), J. Stapleton Roy (1991-95), James R. Sasser (1996-99), and Joseph Prueher (1999-2001) shared their challenges, excitement, crises during their tenures, as well as their views on the future U.S.-China relations
