Overview

The Libraries is repairing the physical infrastructure of the Old Wing through a regular cyclical maintenance project which is scheduled for completion in Fall 2016 6 July 2016.

 

Proposed work period: Old Wing – Mid-2015 to Fall 2016 6 July 2016

• Scope of works:

  • Building exterior and windows: Mandatory inspection, fixing of damages and water leakage, replacement of anti-UV film on windows, wall painting.

  • Rooftop works: Inspection and repair of waterproofing system, safety facilities such as railing, fall arrest system, lightning protection system.

  • Water supply pipes and drain pipes: Inspection and repair

  • Replacement of aging ceiling tiles

  • Minor touch up of internal facilities like painting and replacement of carpet has been arranged by the Estates Office since 2014 summer.

  • Air duct cleaning completed in June and July 2014.

  • Upgrade of lifts in New and Old Library Buildings will take place in second half of 2015 and 2016 respectively.

  • Requests for major improvements such as refurbishment of washrooms and upgrade of air-con & humidity control have been submitted to the University for action.Works for washrooms in Old Library Building will be carried out together with the cyclical maintenance programme to eliminate disturbance to users.
